Sigil Industries manifesto

The last generation modernized the screen. Finance and commerce became legible to software while physical institutions accumulated dashboards. Their appearance changed faster than their capacity to remember. Most depend on fragmented records and vendors with little stake in continuity.

Software remains subordinate to the transaction. Each product captures a narrow event and passes the residue elsewhere. The institution loses the memory operators need to recognize people and govern the place on its own terms, leaving little lasting capability behind.

Sigil is being built around institutional memory. A place should retain the knowledge created through every visit and decision, keeping it available to its operators. The system strengthens operator authority and preserves the identity of the place through staff turnover and software replacement.

Each year of operation should make the infrastructure more useful. Its accumulated record must survive individual tools, allowing an institution to improve without transferring its history to each new vendor. Continuity gives a place the means to develop judgment and durable relationships.

The physical world will be reconstructed through working institutions. A complete environment must prove durable under operating pressure before its discipline can be carried into the next place. We intend to establish that standard in operation, with every expansion carrying forward a record proven in use.
